MY BOOK REPORT
What if a classic Jane Austen’s Emma came to life in modern 1930’s? A modern twist on the well-known classic comes Emmeline by Sarah Holman. Emmeline Wellington is a wealthy young lady living in 1930’s America. Proud of her matchmaking skills, Emmeline’s number one goal is to match her newly found friend, Catarina, with one of the most eligible bachelors in town. However, everything appears to go wrong and even her friend and neighbor, Fredrick Knight, questions her every move. When Emmeline misinterprets a man’s intentions, and makes a mess of things, what will it take to make it up? Will true friendship and love triumph over all or will friendships be broken and hearts hurt?

I really enjoy classics and while Jane Austen is not my favorite author, I really enjoyed this spin off her book, Emma.
I absolutely adored all the characters! Emmeline was so proper and wealthy, yet she was still sweet. Frederick was such a cool guy; the honest and faithful friend that every girl dreams of. Catarina was such a cool edition to the story as it was not common back than for a wealthy young lady to spend time with a poor work-hand.
I loved how Emmeline kept getting into trouble even after Frederick warned her. And I found it humorous how Frederick’s warnings always came true. And–oh my word–I LOVED the ending. It was probably supposed to be a surprise ending, however, I had a hunch and it turned out true.
I now want to go back and read this book over again to savor the super sweet story!
