MY BOOK REPORT
The phrase “character first” is something many people seem to associate with home life—making character first in the family atmosphere. However, character is very important in work life as well—lack of character is what gets many people fired. Tom Hill, founder of the Character First program, explains to the reader how to make character take first place in their work life in his book, Making Character First. How many times do people comment that one is born a certain way. Born into a title or poor. Born fat or skinny. Born smart or dumb. Character, on the other hand, is not something a person is born with—he must earn it. Character is earned through hard work and consistency; through determination and self-control. And character is something anyone can have: rich or poor, fat or skinny, smart or dumb. In the work place, character is crucial to doing well, succeeding and moving up. In addition, the most important person to have character is you. Nevertheless, Making Character First is not just about establishing character in oneself, but also in the entire work environment. While, character does start with the individual, it does not have to end there. Tom Hill writes how having character first at work will change the entire environment; he also explains how it starts with the little things. One person with character can not make an entire work place have character, but he can definitely help. From praise to examples, the biggest representative of them all, Tom Hill now gives the reader a chance to to build “a culture of character in any organization”.
MY REVIEW
This book was another quick read. However, it didn’t need to be long to teach the principles. I enjoyed how the author gave history of how he founded the Character First program, but then also teaches the reader how he or she can apply it to their life. I appreciated that the author didn’t seem to drone on and on about the same thing but got quickly to the point. I also enjoyed how he told stories from his life about how he applied character first and how it worked for him.

Btw no one is able to comment on any of your other pages because you did not click to allow that when you edited it. So the way you can fix that is just edit the page, and on the right side of the screen there should be a thing that asks if you want allow comments, just click allow comments and you’ll be all set. =)
